LAPTOPS ON LOAN
Community Development secured a grant, through GRETB, from the Mitigating Against Educational Disadvantage fund. This will be used to buy 7 laptops, which will be available to the people of the community to use. They can be used to do online courses, join Zoom meetings, practise computer skills, learn new skills etc. They will be available for the free computer course, starting Nov. 8th (see notice). So, with the winter approaching, and your mind turning towards learning new skills, check out what online courses are on offer. The broadband is free, the laptops can be borrowed free of charge, to use in West Hub or at home. Contact 083 0948389.
CLONBERNE, A GLIMPSE OF OUR PAST
Our local history Clonberne, A Glimpse of our Past is now available. It gives a brief overview of the places of historic interest throughout the parish. It can be ordered, on dvd or usb by calling 083 0948389. Cost €10.
LOCAL INTEREST LIBRARY
Our collection of books of local interest are now available in the Resource Office at the Enterprise Centre. They can be taken out on loan on Wednesdays between 11 am and 12 noon.
Clonberne NS Cash4 Clobber collection is ongoing. Drop in your bags of old clothes, shoes, bags etc any time.
Crime Prevention Advice.
Do not under any circumstances give you details to people over the phone purporting to be from government departments, Text messages from Couriers or Numbers you do not recognise. These are fraudsters who are phishing for your information. If in doubt hang up and ring the department they are saying they are from to verify their identity.
TRAINING & education
Digital Skills Training for Older Adults
Clonberne Community Development are pleased to announce that they have secured a new Digital Skills Training course, in conjunction with Galway County Council and our local BCP, which will run for 2 hours each Monday from 8th to 29th Nov. It will be held in the WEST HUB which is located in Unit 1 Clonberne Community Enterprise Centre, on the ground floor. This is a FREE course.
The course is to assist Older Adults get familiar with new technologies that can be very useful in day to day life. It will deal with items such as WhatsApp, paying bills or renewing insurance, car tax etc online, Zoom, and many more items.
We are limiting the course to 8 people and a tutor to comply with current guidelines. For more information or to register for the course just contact John on 086 2557942. This will be an enjoyable 2 hours out on a Monday, where you will meet with friends, have a cuppa, and get familiar with some Digital Skills. No previous knowledge required.
